Weddings these days can really cost a fortune, so you might immediately think of all possible ideas on how to save money on your wedding. Fortunately, there are many ways on how to trim down some of your wedding expenditures. One great idea is to think about cheap wedding favors. However, this doesn’t mean you will be giving out unappealing favors at your wedding, making your special day less memorable. Rather with a bit of creativity, you can definitely have great wedding favors that doesn’t cost you a fortune.

You might not mind of what style of wedding you are having, the important thing is you have the wedding favors for all your guests. Since rarely does someone show up without a gift for the newlyweds, it is in good taste to show your taste by having wedding favors. If you have a large number of guests in your guests list, your wedding favor expenditure can be easily out of control. As a result, many brides and grooms make use of the advantages that are in cheap wedding favors.

It is very important to determine the budget before you start to organize your wedding. Within the planning process of determining your budget, you will wish to decide how much money you are willing to spend on each detail of your wedding celebration. So after you have decided, then you will know whether you want to continue with relatively cheap wedding favors or really cheap wedding favors.

The presentation of wedding favors is also one of the most important thing you need to consider. If your creative enough to make the cheap favors look great, nobody will notice that they were not bought expensively. For instance, tiny candies, mints and chocolates can make affordable edible favors, you can make them look great by placing in small fancy favor boxes. You can find a bunch of small cheap wedding favor fold up boxes, put a few tiny treats in them and with just a bit of touch, you have created fancy and elegant wedding memorabilia at a fraction of cost.

Another great affordable option to keep in mind in having cheap wedding favors is to avoid wedding favors that have a wedding subject to them. For instance, purchasing a small box shaped like a wedding cake will be more expensive than other really adorable cute boxes. Aside from these boxes filled with tiny treats, you may also consider cheap favors like candles and soap. These days, many people are crazy on candles, and therefore, candles are perfect for favors thinking how cheap they can be. You you want, and you have plenty of time left, you can make your own candle or soap favors. There are many craft store that offer DIY soap kits, candle kits and others. You can work with yourself alone, or you can bring together a manpower to have a fun bonding while making homemade wedding favors.

Cheap wedding favors are indeed a great help to save money on your wedding. And if you are really on a tight budget, you can always cut cost on some details of your wedding. Why not give inexpensive bridesmaids gifts to your female attendants, instead of giving luxurious wedding gifts that they will most likely display during special events only? You can do the same idea also when it comes to groomsmen gifts. To have a cheap wedding ideas doesn’t mean compromising what you really have desired for your wedding day. Rather, it’s just a matter of giving extra effort to make the ”cheap idea” look fantastic to make your special day worth to be remembered.

Is this a cheap or cost-saving idea for wedding favours?
We are trying to have an economic wedding and kind of splurged on the photographer so we want to save money in other areas. Even though my parents are paying the majority of it and his are contributing as well, I want to keep the costs down.

I love baking. What about this for favours: each guest would get two sugar-cookies I make (home made, I LOVE BAKING!!) in the shape of fall leaves (we’re having an autumn wedding) with fall-coloured icing on them. Kind of like the ones at Starbucks.

I would just put these in inexpensive little bags or even get a sort of crinkly paper and wrap them in them and tie with a ribbon (you know, the plastic stuff they usually wrap gift baskets with).

Is this cheap or a good idea?

it sounds like a good idea but it would be time consuming and a week before your wedding, baking 200 cookies will be the last thing on your mind.

I think the cookies could be a cute idea. But, remember that baking ingredients can be very expensive. In addition, baking that many cookies can be time consuming. I’m not trying to say homemade cookies are a bad idea. But, it can be problematic if you run out of time, accidentally burn a batch, have no place to store them or start baking and realize how overwhelming the task is.

I make cookies every year for Christmas. I’ll make about 150+ cookies and it’s pretty time consuming. It normally take me about 2 days to get it done. I’ll bake for a good 3-5 hours each time. It’s stressful for me. I’ll trying to bake, wrap presents, get last min gifts, etc.

For a wedding, I couldn’t imagine trying to bake and being stuck in the kitchen when you’ve got a million other things to get done before the big day.

But, that’s just my opinion. You could also do candy. You can buy M&Ms and put them inside a nice bag or even Kisses.

The bottom line is, if you want to do it, then do it. It’s a cute idea (just make sure you cook them perfectly. Don’t serve them over or under cooked)

As for the bags, try OrientalTrading.com. They have cute little bags like that.

Can you freeze the cookies? Time will be short the day before the wedding, so would not be a great idea to bake them at that time. Are you putting your initials on the cookies- like a his/hers thing? Decorating in the same color scheme as the wedding? If it’s a small wedding, nothing too elaborate, sounds like a cute idea though. Have fun with it!

Might be cost effective but not time effective. No matter how much you LOVE baking it will be the last thing you want to do.

Try looking at some wedding favor sites for inexpensive ideas. We just attended a wedding on Saturday. They gave us all candles with a personalized message.

I love your idea! If you love to bake, why not? Its a good way to put your personal stamp on your wedding and make it truly unique and yours alone.

If you can, make them in advance and freeze them. Try a trial batch first to see how it works out so you aren’t going crazy at the last minute looking for an alternative. You’ll see how they freeze. Then package them the day before because if you use those crinkly bags, they crack in the freezer. Been there done that. You can buy the crinkly bags on eBay and tie them with curling ribbon that is super cheap. Tie it and curl it with the inside blade of a pair of scissors. Practice this and its easy and it works.

My friend bought cookies for her wedding and paid $5 each for each cookie and they were stale, but gorgeous.

Make some extra and tuck them away for your honeymoon. Cookies sure will taste good after all the festivities.

I’m getting hungry just thinking about cookies. Good luck and have a happy wedding. :)

I think it would be better to not have favors at all. Believe it or not, for every guest who says outloud something like "Aw, how nice" there is another guest thinking "Why would I want this junk?" and two more guests who don’t notice one way or the other. So why go to all this trouble and expense? If you believe that "choosing the right favors" is going to have any affect on whether people like your party, then you are reading way too much stuff put out by The Wedding Industry, which exists to encourage you to spend, spend, spend. If you can manage to have perfectly splendid birthday or holiday party without favors, theme colors, programs, guest books, engraved or personalized fripperies, then you can do without all those silly expenses and have perfectly splendid wedding party as well. You will not believe how busy you are going to be the week before the wedding, and the last thing you need to be doing is baking cookies all day followed by swabbing down the kitchen and gift wrapping all that stuff. Why buy a headache?

Edibles are always good for favors. They are cheaper in the long run than alot of things online that you have to pay $$ extra in shipping costs.

Set up a date as close to the wedding as possible so they still are able to retain freshness (the weekend before?) and have your moms and bridesmaids get together to help out which can be a fun bonding moment for everyone and get the job done faster than if you were doing everything on your own.

If you have the time and the motivation, that would be very nice. Most people love cookies, and would appreciate your effort.
A suggestion that if blocks of time are hard to find, bake the cookies in batches, wrap them up well and freeze them and unthaw just before decorating time later. This way you don’t tire yourself out, and you are not dealing with a hot kitchen when you are trying to decorate.
I don’t think your idea is cheap, I think it is a good idea that matches your theme, and it will please you since you love to bake. And you are giving your guests something of yourself, one that they will like, too.
If you are short on time, do the time honored and cheap thing, which is to buy pre-cut tulle, or cut it yourself, use the colors of the wedding for this, and fill it with mints, the meltaway kind that come in boxes at the grocery. Pastel mints or buttermints[that last one are pale yellow]. This would be easy to do the day before, and people appreciate the mints after a meal. Here, it is a custom to put a bowl of them and a bowl of mixed nuts on the cake table, Would’nt be a proper wedding without them, LOL.
