Can anyone give me any tips or advice i am getting married in four weeks and havnt started planning yet. The reason is we were supposed tobe getting married in September but we jst found out i’m expecting baby number 3 and dont want to be to big at the wedding. Web also have a family holiday booked for four weeks time so we are thinking about getting married the day before the holiday.
Has anyone else had to plan a wedding fast?
Well get it booked a.s.a.p as everything else can be booked around it
Once booked
Tell any friends/family you want to be there so they can book the time off.
If you want button holes and a small bouquet you need to go get them ordered at the florests
If you want something less formal, get friends to help, hire a room and throw a party afterwards, do the food between you, try hire a room with a bar, and a disco
But most of all relax and enjoy your day, it is do-able definately you have plenty time.
Deep breath and organisation and four weeks will be plenty time.
Good luck and congratulations
My boyfriend and I are trying to plan an inexpensive wedding because we don’t have really a lot of support from our families.
We don’t know much about weddings but can’t afford a wedding planner. Can you all recommend any good books or websites that we can check out to figure out how to do this?
I know there are a ton of resources out there but I’m looking to avoid the crap and just look at the ones that people have found helpful in planning their own weddings.
THANKS!!!

so i went to a wedding on Sunday and I’m officially obsessed with having my own. i did the city hall thing so now i wanna go a bit big but not trying to break the bank. So i wont mind paying for it but i would like for the book to be at least updated to this century…lol. If it matters, I live in NY.
I’m also 23 btw
You can go to walmart and get one. They have them online & in stores. I just went about a week ago to get mine! It only cost me about $18.00
Target also has them.
I know a lot of people are creating wedding planning websites to keep their guest updated on the event. I think that people who are doing destination weddings tend to use them for travel plans, etc. Can anyone recommend a site they have used and liked? I’m not looking to build my own page from scratch, but I would rather enter in details into a template if possible. We are doing a destination wedding and would like to include the travel plans, booking info, etc. Thank you!!
Here are some, these templates are the easy to edit and manage and very affordable.

Templates can generally be edited and customized with any HTML editor. The biggest advantage for webmasters using ready-made templates is the amount of time that can be saved. There are a number of websites that provide ready-made HTML templates. We have compiled a list of some popular sites to make the search process easier.

Bridal showers are a perfect way to show brides how special they are to their family and friends. There are so many great ideas to apply to make the bridal shower successful. Of course, this is the main goal of the hostess - making the event as perfect as possible. However, despite of the charming adornments and delightful meals present in the party, planning for it is not always as easy as you want it to be. As the hostess, you are responsible for so many things. Planning for this event definitely require patience and willingness to show, ”hey girl, you mean a lot to us.”
The first thing you need to consider when planning a bridal shower is the budget. This is the most important factor to lead you until ending. First, decide how much you are willing to spend. Traditionally, the bride has nothing to do with the expenses. A bridal shower is thrown as a gift to the bride-to-be, therefore it is very inappropriate to include her bank account in the line. The hostess, however, can ask for contribution from other friends.
After the budget has been decided, you will then need a theme for the party. There are several themes to think of, such as a lingerie theme, tropical theme, beach theme…etc. You must think of the bride when choosing a theme for her party. Consider the things she love; her interests and hobbies and her overall personality. After all the party is for her, so relating everything to her is definitely a good idea.
When choosing the shower decorations, pick those that suits the theme of the shower. It is always a smart idea to incorporate items that will easily tell what theme you would like to show to the guests. Aside from the decorations, the theme will also tell you what menu should be on the serving table, as well the time of the day.
Of course, the bridal shower will be incomplete without gifts. One thing that makes it a shower party is, different gifts will be showered to the bride-to-be. This has been an old tradition, and often these gifts include household wares, silly lingeries, marriage guiding books and other gifts that can help the bride prepare for her new life as wife.
During bridal showers, the gifts are not only for bride but for other people also. In fact, bridal showers are the perfect time where brides often give gifts to their bridesmaids. Popular bridesmaids gifts include personalized tote bags, engraved compact mirrors, jewelry pieces, and other things that the bridesmaids can use at wedding day. Lastly, the both the hostess and the bride would like to end the party by thanking all the guests. Giving out bridal shower favors is a great way to say thank you to all those who spend their time with the bride. There are so many great choices of favors available online, just pick those that, of course, suits the theme of your party. So basically, these are the things that usually bridal shower has, but above all, have fun when planning and choosing bridal shower accessories and supplies. Don’t get stress over little things, plan ahead so that you’ll have plenty of time to decide.

My wedding is not for a year and a half. I’m so excited to be engaged and everything, but i know the planning needs to happen in a timely fashion and it will soon come all together. For now though, what can i do that is "not too soon"? We have already booked the ceremony and reception hall to make sure no one else books the place on the date we want, and we have an appointment at the end of the month for engagement pictures where my fiance propsed, but what else can I do? Plan an Engagment Party? Dress shopping or the girls and I? Favors? Save the Date Magnets? Cakes? Meet with Florists, Photographers, & DJ’s? Please let me know any ideas or help? I’m a first time bride-to-be!
And TOTALLY excited!!!
I have a knot.com account, i just want to see what everyone else thinks is "okay" to plan now. And also, someone said I could send out save the date magnets now, a year and a half is not too far away or is it really okay to send them out now?
Congrats to you! It is not too early to choose the sites like you have done, b/c they sometimes go quickly! It is also fine to send out save the dates in the next few months. You do not throw yourself an engagement party; either family or close friends do. But if they do, they may do it any time now. If you have not already booked the photographer for your wedding as well as the engagement pics, you can go ahead & do that.
I would wait on the dress shopping. Manufacturers come out with new styles & consequently discontinue some styles twice a year, usually in December and July. You don’t want to pick something now, have everyone pay deposits & get measured, and then have the dress get discontinued! I would wait til about 6 months away for this. Also, you never know which b’maid might gain or lose weight, or decide to get pregnant!
Does anyone know the best wedding planning book out there and maybe a link to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have no idea where to begin!!
There’s an entire section of Wedding planning books at Barnes & Noble that you can check out– that way you can browse through all of them and see which one suits you best! Plus you don’t have to pay shipping!
the theme for my wedding is books and classic literature, i feel kind of bad because my fiance is totally a sports and fix-it guy who never reads fiction, but he thought of the idea and I absolutely loved it!
we already have the centerpieces, which are all these different books including Peter Pan and Anne of Green Gables and Oliver Twist. They’re going to be on stands, one per table, inside there antique bird cages with flowers around them.
WHAT I NEED are some good ideas for favors that also go with the theme, or any other non-favor ideas that you want to share, I’d really appreciate!
p.s. the wedding is April 17, 2010 (so excited!!)
I’d get small blank journals. I’ve seen hardback ones that were beautiful at the Dollar Store. Even if someone doesn’t use it as a journal, all can use blank paper to write lists, notes, etc. You could get pretty bookmarks with tassels to place in them in your wedding colors or complimentary colors, if you like or just leave bookmark off. Or only have nice bookmarks as your favors with your last name initial or wedding date, etc. printed on them.
Love the theme! Enjoy the excitement and good luck!

A coffee mug full of teas, hot chocolates and coffee

A book?
If there is a particular book you like, you could honour it.

I have 11 months until the wedding, and we basically have everything booked that needs to be booked (reception hall, photographer etc). It seems a little too early to start on some other things, but I feel like I should be doing something! Any ideas on how not to go crazy waiting? I’m too excited for the big day, I wish it were here now =)
Your next biggest task is compiling and organizing the guest list, and I suggest making two lists. The A list . . and a B list (when A list members RSVP "cannot attend").
You will make this job a lot easier by having everyone’s names and addresses ready for envelope addressing. In other words, make sure you have everyone’s name spelled correctly and that you have the correct address and zip code.
And you will also need to research how to address the "inside" envelope if you are having one. Addressing invitation envelopes takes a long time, especially if you have to stop and make telephone calls for street address help.
Here’s some other things that you can do in advance . .
Buy postage stamps
Address "Thank You" note envelopes (to people that you know that are definitely coming to your wedding and giving you a gift)
Taste test wedding cakes
Make lists (what do I need to take to the ceremony site, what do I need to take to the reception hall, what do I need for the bride’s wedding day emergency kit, what do I need to take on my honemoon)
Check you closet and bureau drawers for items that need to be discarded, it’s a good time to get rid of some things (clothes, CDs, books)
Check your closet for items that need to be purchased for your honeymoon . . a new bathing suit? cocktail dress? new luggage? sunglasses?
Do you need to obtain a passport?
Learn to cook several new recipes (make October soup month, make November Italian month, make December cookie month, etc)
Buy a "Thank You" book so you will know how to say "Thank You" in various ways for your wedding gifts (it’s a great help)
Think about, and then purchase, and then wrap your attendants’ and parents’ "Thank You" gifts (it’s much easier doing it now than a week before you wedding day.
Determine where you want to have your rehearsal dinner or "day after" brunch/breakfast
Determine who you want to invite to the rehearsal dinner or "day after" brunch (buy the invitations, address the invitations)
Have a "girls night out" or a "girls night in" (manicures, pedicures, a romantic movie, pizza, etc)
