I’m trying to plan my wedding at the tobacco warehouse in dumbo. Does anyone know who is in control of renting the space for an event. I have looked everywhere and can’t find any information. I am positive that the space is rent-able.
I tried contacting Andrew.
I have left him two messages.

1. Please contact Andrew Williams at (212) 866-2005 or drop him a line at andrew.williams@oprhp.state.ny.us

2. Tobacco Warehouse, 26 New Dock St., nr. Water St., Dumbo, Brooklyn;
718-802-0603; http://brooklynbridgepark.org/events (Password Req,)

Cost: $7,000 for fourteen hours on site, plus $250 for each additional hour. A refundable $1,500 security deposit is required.
Capacity: 350 seated and served; 700 for cocktails.
Situated on the East River in Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, this nineteenth-century hallowed-out building doesn’t have a view, it has the view. Looking out its brick archways onto lower Manhattan—framed by the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges—the outdoor structure’s raw space is tented from May through October for all of your reception needs (BYO chairs, tables, etcetera). The riverside boardwalk and lawn areas usually set the backdrop for ceremonies.

Where are my manners. CONGRATULATIONS!!

I want to buy one for a future bride as a Christmas present, something current, and I am not sure which one is the best. It should be a planner as well as a keepsake book. Help!

There are a ton of options on the market right now. A week ago today, we went to a good friends wedding that the bride planned with her mother. (meaning they didn’t hire a professional wedding planner.) It was an incredible event and you would never have known that she did all the organizing and planning herself. I put a link below to the wedding planner/organizer she used. She said it was awesome! I also too pictures and posted it on my blog. You’re welcome to check that out too!

Best of luck! I hope your day is wonderful!

My boyfriend and I are trying to plan an inexpensive wedding because we don’t have really a lot of support from our families.

We don’t know much about weddings but can’t afford a wedding planner. Can you all recommend any good books or websites that we can check out to figure out how to do this?

I know there are a ton of resources out there but I’m looking to avoid the crap and just look at the ones that people have found helpful in planning their own weddings.

THANKS!!!

I am setting a budget between 2-3k for our wedding. I am estimating between 100-150 guests. I am trying to come up with a budget for food. The food will be prepared by family, which will be free, I just have to buy the food. I am trying to get an idea of what i am looking at. I am looking at serving something like, Ham or Chicken, rice/gravy, green beans, etc…. just you’re average Sunday dinner type meal. Also any other DIY ideas would be helpful to stay under budget. Thanks in advance.
We won’t have to pay for a pastor or church use, just a venue and that may be at no cost to us as well.
Decorations will be done my best friend’s mom. She is real crafty and wont charge anything. I’ll just have to pay for the items. Plus, she has a bunch of stuff that she did for her daughter, but they ended up not having a wedding, just a small ceremony, so she has all of that stuff she made and didn’t even use, so I may end up getting that. that would cut costs down significantly.

I’m planning mine on about 2k and am serving at least 4 different types of sandwiches, chips, and drinks.

Also, silk flowers are always cheaper than real flowers and Garden Ridge, Michael’s, or Hobby Lobby has those.

Plus, either vistaprint.com will be the cheapest place to get invitations or see if Michael’s has some on clearance; that’s where I just bought mine for 100 @ $10 instead of the original $80.

are there any good books i can get her?

Any Wedding planning books will be helpful. The Miss Manners Guide to Etiquette would also be wonderful.

I am engaged and will be sending out my own personal wedding invitations. I am fairly new to the whole wedding planning thing and I am not sure what information needs to go in the invitation? I know date, time, ceremony location, reception location, registry information. Someone I work with mentioned a RSVP card? I don’t really know what that is. Am I missing anything?

You’ll want to know who is coming to the wedding, so give your guests a way to respond (rsvp) to your invitation. If you don’t want to include a separate RSVP card, you can instead provide an e-mail address for guests to respond to. It’s not a traditional, but its your wedding, so do what you want.

Other important info to include in addition to what you listed above would be the bride and grooms names and their parent’s names. You can also include directions and an itinerary of what times things will be happening ( i.e. - ceremony 6:00pm, cocktails 7:00pm, dinner 8:00pm)

Hello. I’m looking for a wedding plan for our low budget wedding. We would like to spend as little as we have but get as much as possible :)
Hello Cindy!
I’ve got married last year and we had the same low budget wedding search on the internet. We came across of a great Book where we found all our questions answered such as where you can cut back and save some money. There is much more thing you should think about when you get married. Low cost budget doesn’t mean loosing the "charm" of a wedding anyway… see more details on their website so you can find out if this will help you or not! Good Luck - Philippe

so i went to a wedding on Sunday and I’m officially obsessed with having my own. i did the city hall thing so now i wanna go a bit big but not trying to break the bank. So i wont mind paying for it but i would like for the book to be at least updated to this century…lol. If it matters, I live in NY.
I’m also 23 btw

You can go to walmart and get one. They have them online & in stores. I just went about a week ago to get mine! It only cost me about $18.00

Target also has them.

I have atleast a year before I get married, but I need a budget to go by. I just want to have a nice wedding that isn’t so pricy!
I have gotten all of my stuff picked out at an online bridal shop it is all at a discount, but I can’t find the stuff to decorate!

Hey, we’re almost the same… I’ve got a year to go before the big day too! :-) It’s very much possible to have a beautiful and enjoyable wedding with a tight budget, you just have to be creative and, of course, some help from families and friends would really make a difference.

I’ve learned a lot of ways on how to cut on the expenses, but it would take too long if I write everything here, so let me just give you the links to the sites I would recommend the most.

I have two favorite sites: first, it’s mareeyah.com’s wedding site, which has a page dedicated to ideas on how to cut the wedding cost. There are other wedding sites trying to fulfill this aim, but I found mareeyah.com’s page to have the most ideas, and many of them are quite unique and creative too. Second, it would be Sara Cotner’s wedding blog, which is quite informative too. She had a $2000 budget for her wedding, with 80 guests and the event was quite fantastic and enjoyable.

Well, I do hope you get tons of ideas from these two sites.
